Deaconess offers grief support
Through Aug. 26, Deaconess Hospital will offer a six-week Grief Support program that provides a step-by-step approach for those who wish to work through their loss issues and soften the pain of losing a loved one. The group meets from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays in the 1 North Conference Room near the main entrance. These confidential programs are offered to the community free of charge.
Bob Willis, certified grief recovery specialist and nationally certified bereavement facilitator, will cover topics including the normal responses to grief and loss, honoring the life that was lived, embracing memories and how to value relationships.

Work out with ballet, Pilates
Discover how dancers achieve beautifully sculpted bodies with this unique workout. Join certified Pilates instructor and former ballet dancer Carol Davidson as she combines basic elements of ballet and Pilates to give you the length, strength and poise of a dancer.

Integris promotes stroke education
Stroke/TIA survivors and patients at high risk for stroke are encouraged to participate in this interactive, multimedia educational class designed to increase the participants’ acceptance and understanding of treatment and prevention options and improve patient outcomes by reducing primary and secondary strokes. Classes are from 10-11:30 a.m. the first and third Tuesday of every month in the Jones Education Classroom at Integris Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation, 4219 S. Western, and at 1:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month on 3 East, Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation at Integris Baptist Medical Center, 3300 N.W. Expressway.
Mercy welcomes two new neurosurgeons
Neurosurgeons Fadi Nasr and Brian Snell join Mercy NeuroScience Institute. Nasr received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma and completed a neurological surgery residency from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
In addition, he completed a fellowship in deformity correction and complex spinal reconstruction at Northwestern University in Chicago. Nasr specializes in adult degenerative spinal conditions, including adult degenerative scoliosis. He also has an interest in minimally invasive surgery of the spine, as well as general neurosurgical procedures such as intracranial tumors and aneurysms.
Snell received his medical degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., and completed an internship in general surgery and residency in neurological surgery at OUHSC. In addition, he completed a complex spinal surgery fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wis. Snell has extensive experience in the treatment of cranial and spinal trauma, as well as cranial and spinal tumors. He also has an interest in cranial and spinal radiosurgery. Snell comes to Mercy from Tyler Neurosurgical Associates in Tyler, Texas, where he practiced three years.

Neuroradiologist joins OU Physicians
Neuroradiologist Jignesh Modi of Edmond has established his medical practice at OU Physicians. Neuroradiologists specialize in diagnosing and characterizing abnormalities of the central nervous system, spine and head and neck.
Modi specializes in neuroradiology for both children and adults. He utilizes varieties of medical imaging technology and performs advanced neuroimaging including magnetic resonance spectroscopies, perfusion imaging, cerebral spinal fluid flow studies and MR neurograms.
He completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Oklahoma and a fellowship in neuroradiology at George Washington University Hospital.
He received his medical degree and completed his residency in India.
