Women on Weights

Ladies, get a head start on your New Year’s resolutions. Integris Pacer Fitness Center presents Women on Weights. This six-week exercise program is designed to teach women how to properly strengthen and tone their bodies. Weight machines and various types of equipment will be used throughout the program. Participants will receive a pedometer, 12 group personal training sessions, workout plans, coupons for services at PACER, fitness and nutritional tips and journals, a goodie bag and a WOW T-shirt. PACER members and non-members are eligible to participate. Cost: $295. Registration begins Saturday, Aug. 9, and sessions start Sept. 2. Cancer check

The best defense against cancer is prevention and early detection. The American Cancer Society recommends annual screenings for cancer. INTEGRIS Oncology Services will offer free screenings to the community for colon cancer as well as prostate, breast, skin and oral cancer. The comprehensive cancer screenings will be held from 8 a.m. to noon in the Outpatient Clinic on the first floor of INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center. Reservations are required. Triathlon benefits Ronald McDonald House

The seventh annual Lighthouse Triathlong benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oklahoma City will kick off at 7 a.m. Sunday at the Lighthouse Fitness Center.

Funds raised at the event will help the Ronald McDonald House provide a place to stay for the families of children needing medical care in Oklahoma City and also will go twoard the Ronald McDonald Family room being built in The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center.

The triathlon includes a 500-yard swim, a 13-mile bike ride and a 5-kilometer run.
