EDMOND —
Leonard and Carolyn Simpson of Eufaula, Okla., formerly of Edmond, Okla., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a celebration hosted by their children from 2-4 p.m. June 30, 2012 at the North Fork Baptist Church in Eufaula.
Leonard Earl Simpson and Carolyn Mae Davis were married June 26, 1962 at the First Christian Church in Edmond. Carolyn met Leonard when her girlfriend, Kay Lockhart, took her to see a basketball game.
Leonard, a former graduate of the original Edmond High School, and Carolyn, a former resident and graduate of Heavener, Okla., lived north of Edmond for 38 years.
Before his retirement, Leonard was a general contractor specializing in masonry, and Carolyn was a cake decorator. They are enjoying their retirement while living on the lake where they enjoy fishing and vegetable and flower gardening.
The Simpsons have four children: Kelly Bristow of Edmond, Brad Simpson of Eufaula, Dooley Simpson of McAlester, Okla. and Jamey Simpson, of the Village, Okla. They are blessed with one granddaughter, five grandsons, two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Leonard and Carolyn say that the secret to their long marriage is to “fight and make up every day.”
