EDMOND —
Charlie and Harriett Berryhill of Edmond, Okla., recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary with a motorhome trip to Beavers Bend State Park in Hugo, Okla.
Charlie Berryhill and Harriett Kilcrease were married Aug. 13, 1956 at the First Methodist Church in Hugo.
Charlie and Harriett met in the Hugo High School band during their freshman year and remained together through the end of high school, when Charlie gave Harriett his senior ring. Before he went off to school at Oklahoma A & M College, Charlie put an engagement ring on layaway, worked hard and paid it off, and then presented it to Harriett on her 18th birthday.
The couple have four children: Lisa Eberly and her husband Brian of Broken Arrow, Okla.; Shelli Moore and husband Mark of Edmond; Brian Berryhill and wife Stephanie of Guthrie, Okla., and Brendan Berryhill and wife Sharus of Broken Arrow.
The couple treasure their 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Charlie retired after 35 years in the automobile aftermarket industry, having worked for Trico Products and Napa Filters. He remains active in Senior Olympics, earning gold medals in pole vaulting, javelin and free throw events.
Harriett enjoys arts and music, and spending time with her family. She has assigned special nicknames to each one of her grandchildren.
Together the couple enjoys traveling in their RV and keeping up with the grandchildren’s activities.
