EDMOND —
Dan and Carolyn Garlow of Edmond, Okla. will be honored during a family reception February 19, 2011 in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Dan Arlin Garlow and Carolyn Joy Wilcox were married February 10, 1961 in Del City, Okla. They were introduced by Carolyn’s next-door neighbor who worked for Dan at Western Electric in Oklahoma City.
Dan has enjoyed a long career in management and retired in 1989 from Western Electric.
Carolyn retired from a secretarial and accounting career in 1983, and enjoyed operating an antique booth for many years. Currently, she is a Mary Kay beauty consultant.
Dan and Carolyn love to travel, and especially enjoyed visiting Asia and Europe when Dan’s career moved him to South Korea during the 1980’s.
They also have been avid square dancers for more than 20 years, and enjoy playing bridge.
Carolyn enjoys china painting, antique shopping and has been a member of the Red Hat Society, Red Hat Cuties Chapter for more than eight years.
Dan and Carolyn are members of Quail Springs Baptist Church, where Dan has been active as a church department leader and has served as chairman of the Leisure Livewire group.
The couple’s children are daughter Vicki Sanders and husband John of Edmond and their three sons, Jeff and wife Kristen, Chris, and Greg and wife Melissa; and daughter Debra Zaidi and her husband Ed, of Orange, Calif. and their son Jake. Dan and Carolyn are blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Taylor, Tyler, Chris, Bryce, Josh, Sydney, Gracie and Brody.
Dan attributes the success of their marriage to a few simple rules: “Trust in God, be totally giving, and learn to say yes to your partner.”
