ELAINE WARNER | SPECIAL TO THE SUN Woody Guthrie’s fiddle — handcrafted by furniture maker Joe Krupczynski in New York, 1940. Woody carried this with him through World War II. While in the U.S. Merchant Marines, ships on which he was serving survived two separate torpedo attacks. He woodburned the ships’ names and locations on the fiddle.
