OKC International Folkdancers to perform

In a combined celebration for Sons of Norway and the Scandinavian Club of Oklahoma, the OKC International Folkdancers will perform at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 10600 N. Council Road in Oklahoma City. Dances showcasing traditional numbers from Denmark, Sweden, Finland as well as Norway will be featured. Noel Osborn, award-winning, veteran folk dancer, will choreograph the performance. The program includes Familie Sekstar, a Danish mixer; Hambo, a Swedish couples’ dance, dating from the 16th century; Roros Pols, a couples’ dance from Norway, unchanged for 500 years; and Gammal Schottis, the oldest Scottish dance on record from Sweden. Folk dance, youth dancers will demonstrate Den Topped Hone, (The Crested Hen) from Denmark and Seven Jumps, as seen in Denmark, Belgium, Germany and Holland. The celebration is open to the public.
