Filmmaker seeks extras

The Edmond Sun

EDMOND Independent filmmaker Billy Yeager and his wife, Anais, will roll through town in early August seeking extras for their three-part film series, “Jesus of Malibu.”

Billy Yeager said they are looking for real people who don’t have a tendency to act on camera.

“When I bring in other characters, I don’t just make them an extra. I let them tell their story and see if they have a story that needs to be told. They’re not just actors, they’re real people and that’s what makes real magic,” Billy Yeager said. “It’s all about the characters and who they meet along the way.”

The film follows Jesus and Mindy, played by the Yeagers, on their journey to find truth. These two unlikely people meet coming from completely different backgrounds and generations. They begin their journey by relinquishing all of their possessions and worldly desires. Once they discover what their purpose is in life, they set off to change the world, which will cause a “butterfly effect” or “100th Monkey” where every action causes a reaction, Billy Yeager said.

“People are becoming enlightened,” Billy Yeager said. “People are going to have to tune in. There is going to be a major shift in the whole world, politics, economy — everything. The world is not going to end but it is going to change completely from anything we know.”

All of the extras volunteer for the roles, but will have a chance to share a piece of who they really are. The scene shot in Oklahoma will occur at Lucille’s gas station along Route 66 where Mindy and Jesus try to open a small gift shop gas station. The extras will be coming into the shop to get gas and supplies, Billy Yeager said.

Route 66 plays a significant role in the film. The film will take place at several locations along Route 66, but most of the inspiration for the story and the two lead characters took place on the New Mexico, Arizona and Oklahoma sections of the road, Anais Yeager wrote in a press release. She told the Sun what drew her to the project was the desire to create a film that did not simply entertain but inspired awareness and raised consciousness in humanity.

The Yeagers believe that Route 66 embodies a very powerful energy grid from being located at specific longitude and latitude lines, or ley lines, that are sacred geometric grid patterns on the globe, where many of the ancient sites are built, including the Mayan and Egyptian pyramids.

According to a press release, Billy Yeager traveled four years ago to Costa Rica and Peru where he spent 30 days fasting on nothing but water in the jungles writing part of the script for “Jesus of Malibu.” Now, after years of traveling in an RV, he is close to finishing the first part of the series, which he estimates will be completed by February or March of 2010. The film is to be released in sequence leading up to 2012 with the third part released shortly after to show life after that year. The Mayan calendar, which ends with the year 2012, plays a significant role in the film, Billy Yeager said.

“Everything is going to fall. It’s going to collapse and that’s a good thing. There is too much poverty in the world.”
