Edmond fourth-grader takes top national pageant prize

EDMOND — Competing against 27 other contestants, 9-year-old Caitlin Rhodes, of Edmond, won the National Cities of America Miss Junior Pre-Teen title Dec. 18 in Orlando, Fla.

Caitlin won the title of Miss Junior Pre-Teen of Oklahoma City in August of 2010 earning her a place in the national pageant.

The Cities of America pageants conduct competitions in casual and formal wear as well as personal interviews. Questions are presented to the contestants during preliminary and top 10 formal wear competitions. Contestants are judged on confidence, genuineness and overall feeling generated by their presentations rather than appearance or dress.

Caitlin earned the crown and title and was awarded a $7,500 cash scholarship and a cruise for two. She also won the runner-up title in the photogenic aspect of the competition.

Caitlin is in the fourth grade at Chisholm Elementary School and is the daughter of Joe and Carol Rhodes. She enjoys acting, piano and voice and has been in several commercials and minor film roles.
