‘LORD AND LADY BUNNY —
TRANSLATED FROM RABBIT BY POLLY HORVATH
In this hilarious sequel to “Mr. and Mrs. Bunny — Detectives Extraordinaire!” — that even includes a guest appearance by J.K. Rowling a.k.a. “Oldwhatshername” — Madeleine wants nothing more than to save money for college, but her impractical, ex-hippie parents are broke.
When the family unexpectedly inherits a sweet shoppe in England that has the potential to earn serious profit, they see an answer to all their problems….
Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Bunny — formerly of the detecting persuasion — are looking for new professions, and Mrs. Bunny decides she would like to be Queen. Soon they, too, are headed across the pond.
This follow up to “Mr. and Mrs. Bunny — Detectives Extraordinaire!” will not disappoint fans of this truly entertaining and laugh-out-loud series.
‘TEN EGGS IN A NEST’
BY MARILYN SADLER
Beginning readers can count to 10 — and add — while they learn to read in the latest, Bright and Early Book, “Ten Eggs in a Nest” written by “P.J. Funnybunny” author Marilyn Sadler and illustrated by Michael Fleming.
Gwen the hen has laid her eggs, but just how many is anyone’s guess. For now, she’s quite content to sit and wait for them to hatch.
Red Rooster, however is too excited to wait. As soon as one egg hatches, he struts over to Worm World to buy ONE worm for his ONE new baby chick.
Alas, Red returns to find that TWO baby chicks have now hatched, requiring a return trip to Worm World. The hijinks continue back and forth until 10 eggs have hatched, and young readers have learned a thing or two about ONE: counting to 10; TWO: simple addition; THREE: buying and selling; and FOUR: chickens and eggs!
With stylized illustrations by Michael Fleming reminiscent of classic Beginner Books, this is a perfect choice for parents looking to teach reading and math to their own little chicks!
