OETA celebrates Dr. Seuss’ birthday

Special to The Sun

OKLAHOMA CITY — It’s Dr. Seuss’ 109th birthday on March 2, and OETA is celebrating with new content on-air, online and on mobile beginning March 1. Oklahomans can join everyone’s favorite cat with the Oklahoma Network’s series, “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!” airing weekdays at 7:30 a.m.

“OETA is proud to celebrate the education legacy of Dr. Seuss,” said Dan Schiedel, OETA executive director. “As the home to The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, OETA helps prepare preschoolers for kindergarten and first grade science curriculum — using Dr. Seuss’ trademark whimsical style.”

Children also can continue the science adventure with the new “Swirly Whirly Pearl Hunt” online game and video content online and on mobile. Video clips from the series are available for free online at and on the PBS KIDS Video App starting March 1.
