EDMOND —
The University of Central Oklahoma School of Music will present a special performance by Tamar Grader, accomplished Boston harpsichordist and UCO guest artist, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 in the Radke Fine Arts Theatre located in the UCO Center for Transformative Learning.
The performance will feature Grader in concert with Tess Remy-Schumacher, Ph.D., UCO professor and cellist, and Natalie Syring, Central music faculty member and flute player. The concert will feature well-known German, Italian and French Baroque pieces, including works by Bach, Vivaldi and Blavet.
The performance will be the opening concert for Central’s new Historical Performance Practice Program, which offers practical and academic subjects about historical instruments and historical performance practice, such as Baroque violin, Baroque cello, natural horn, recorder, Baroque flute and harpsichord.
Grader, a Harvard Music graduate, is a solo harpsichordist and continuo player with a particular interest in Baroque techniques and improvisation. While at Harvard, Grader was the president of the Harvard Organ Society, co-general manager of the Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra and member of the board of the Harvard Early Music Society.
She is currently a professional music teacher and performer in Boston. Admission to the performance is free.
