Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma’s young patron organization, the Understudies, will present the second annual Broadway & Brew at the Myriad Botanical Gardens on Friday, May 2. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Lyric, the state’s leading professional theatre company, to support its annual programming and Thelma Gaylord Academy.
Geared toward the 40 and younger demographic, the event will feature local breweries and restaurants offering a range of food and beer tastings as well as a cash bar. Participating restaurants and breweries include Coop Ale Works, Iguana Mexican Grill, Anthem Brewing Company, Pie Junkie, Roughtail Brewing Company, Empire Slice House, In the Raw, Dead Armadillo Brewery, Tapwerks, Mustang Brewing Company, Picasso Café, and more. DJ Ostara will provide entertainment throughout the party, as well as performers from Lyric’s upcoming shows Les Misérables, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Monty Python’s Spamalot and A Little Night Music. There will also be a raffle featuring exciting prize packages. Tickets to the event are $65 per person in advance and those who become an Understudies member prior to the event receive a free ticket.
Lyric’s Understudies organization is a group of age 40 and younger men and women who help cultivate a love of theatre in the Oklahoma City community. Social events and volunteer opportunities are planned throughout the year to coincide with Lyric productions. Membership is just $100 per person.
