Ellenton, Fla. — Carly Alise Baker, formerly of Edmond, recently landed the lead role of Laurey in a production of “Oklahoma!” at the Manatee School for the Arts in Ellenton, Fla. She is the daughter of Adam and Cindy Baker, formerly of Edmond and the granddaughter of Reba Baker.

Carly Baker is pleased to represent her home state in this Florida production.

“With all my heart, I wanted to land this role,” she said. “I felt that I could bring a sense of authenticity and truth to the role, being very familiar with the show and actually being an Oklahoman.”

Baker is a sophomore at the local charter high school.

“We couldn’t be more proud,” said Adam Baker, her father, who is himself performing the lead role of “Jim” in the upcoming Manatee Players Theater production of “Pump Boys & Dinettes.” This is a role that Baker previously performed in Oklahoma City for Lyric Theater.
