Cardenas earns Miss Teen Oklahoma Latina title

EDMOND — Kacie Cardenas from Edmond won Miss Teen Oklahoma Latina. She is a senior at Deer Creek High School.

Kaci is in National Honor Society and has been on the pom squad since seventh -grade and was named to the All-State Academic pom squad. She is a valedictorian for Deer Creek and has received more than $21,000 in scholarships from Oklahoma State University. She plans on majoring in molecular biochemistry through the agricultural department.

Last summer she participated in an internship at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and she was chosen as one of the 52 students to participate in the Oklahoma Youth Leadership program.

She mentors a pom clinic for elementary girls and helps her father mentor a first grader at Northern Hills Elementary. Her platform is Suicide Awareness.

Kacie played on North’s Golf team her freshman, sophomore and junior years and was on the varsity pom team all three years and participated in national pom competition in Florida. She was Student Council treasurer her sophomore year and was president her junior year.

Her parents are Joe and Deanna Cardenas of Edmond.
