Special to The Sun
OKLA. CITY —
On Sept. 21, the Pawnee Bill Ranch will present a Civil War Quilt Seminar in the museum conference room at 2:30 p.m. Martha Ray, retired director of Historic Homes for the Oklahoma Historical Society, will teach the seminar. Ray will combine history and storytelling to provide a unique and educational experience for attendees.
Ray will tell true quilt stories found in diaries and letters from the 1850s and 1860s. All of the women featured in the seminar came to Indian Territory, Texas, Missouri or Arkansas to settle during or after the Civil War. Some of the stories are about pioneers of early Oklahoma. She also will be displaying several original quilts from the Civil War era.
For more information, call 918-762-2513 to register. The seminar is free, but donations are encouraged.
