Police, FBI raid local apartments

EDMOND —
About 70 Edmond, metro area, state and federal law enforcement officers conducted an early morning raid Friday on the Rolling Green Apartments, netting 14 arrests for a variety of offenses.
Glynda Chu, Edmond Police Department spokeswoman, said the raid culminated months of undercover work and complaints by residents of the apartment complex regarding an increase in drug, gang and criminal activity.
“With this raid, the Edmond Police Department is sending a loud and clear message that gang, drug and other types of criminal activity will not be tolerated, and that residents should not have to live in fear and intimidation in and around their own homes,” Chu said.
Chu said many residents felt their safety was being threatened on a regular basis in their own homes. The apartment complex is at 400 E. Danforth.
At 6:30 a.m., the raid began. Edmond Police officers were assisted by FBI agents, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers, Oklahoma County sheriffs deputies, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics. Several metro police departments’ gang units participated as well.
