Luther area man dies in accident

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating an accident that claimed the life of a 63-year-old Luther-area man.

The emergency call was received by dispatch just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff's office said in a news release. The victim's wife said her husband had been working underneath a vehicle when it apparently fell on top of him. Two Oklahoma County deputies and one Luther officer responded to 17624 First Gravel Road where they found the victim underneath the front of a four-door Saturn, pinned beneath the car.

The deputies grabbed the sides of the vehicle and lifted the car while the Luther officer pulled the victim out. Deputies performed CPR until Midwest City ambulance arrived. Medi-flight was called to the scene and paramedics with Medi-flight were able to get a pulse from the victim. The victim was flown to OU Medical Center.

Around 6:40 p.m. the victim was pronounced dead by doctors at OU Medical Center, the Sheriff’s Office reports. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators have not determined what caused the car to apparently fall off a jack and pin the victim.
