Two adults were killed Friday afternoon in a two-car collision north of Oklahoma City, troopers said.
State Trooper Betsy Randolph said the collision occurred along Portland Avenue/S.H. 74 several miles north of Waterloo Road near Charter Oak in Logan County. The adult male and female killed in the crash were riding in a four-door sedan; a male driver was in the other vehicle, a pickup.
Randolph said the adult female was driving the sedan when for an undetermined reason she veered off the two-lane highway, over-corrected, went back onto the highway and collided head on with the pickup coming from the opposite direction.
A young child who was a passenger in the sedan was transported to a local hospital, Randolph said. He was harnessed in a child safety seat and did not appear to have suffered any serious injuries, she said.
The man who was driving the pickup was transported to Presbyterian Hospital, Randolph said. He suffered injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.
The crash occurred at about 3:20 p.m.
No other details about the crash were available as of 5:30 p.m. Friday.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol fatality squad coming from Norman arrived on the scene about 5:30 p.m., Randolph said. The section of the highway will remain closed until they have completed their investigation, which should take about an hour, she said.
The OHP will alert media outlets when the highway is reopened.
