EDMOND — An Edmond Police officer noticed a suspicious looking package this morning on the east side of North High School, prompting a lockdown of the school, an official said. The lockdown was lifted shortly after 10 a.m.

The package was described as a 2 foot by 2 foot box with tape around it, said Susan Parks-Schlepp, spokeswoman for the Edmond Public School district. The Edmond Police bomb squad has X-rayed the package, and Parks-Schlepp said police found nothing inside of it.

All students at the high school are safe and accounted for, Parks-Schlepp said. They were all in a previously scheduled assembly on the west end of the school when the package was found. School officials kept them there while the investigation proceeded.
