Edmond Young Professionals’ May workshop to discuss leadership
Edmond Young Professionals, the newest initiative of the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce, will have an educational workshop featuring Dr. Nathan B. Mellor, who will discuss leadership and leadership opportunities in Edmond.
The workshop will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 6 at Oklahoma Christian University in the Macintosh Conservatory. The cost will be $15 per person.

Hackney joins law firm of Evans & Davis
Melissa L. Hackney has joined the law firm of Evans & Davis where her practice will focus on family and domestic matters, adoption, employment law, medical malpractice and general civil litigation.
Prior to her legal practice, Hackney seved as a registered nurse in the field of women’s health before advancing to the position of director of nursing at both Deaconess and St. Anthony’s hospitals.
She is licensed to practice in the Oklahoma Supreme Court and all Oklahoma District Courts, as well as the Federal District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Oklahoma. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Oklahoma County Bar Association Community Service Committee.
Hackney is active at Life Church.

Gordy joins Churchill Brown
Jessica Gordy recently joined the team at Churchill Brown as a new associate in the Edmond Office at 201 N. Bryant. She is a lifetime resident of the Oklahoma City metro area.
Gordy has a Bachelor’s of Arts in psychology and a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing. She worked for nine years as a liver transplant nurse at Integris Baptist Hospital. Gordy has worked the past four years as an RN case manager.
Gordy will work with buyers and sellers of residential real estate properties in the metro area. She is particularly interested in working with first-time buyers and single women buying homes.
Perkins becomes consultant with Tastefully Simple
Deborah Perkins of Guthrie has become an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct-sales company featuring easy-to-prepare gourmet products.
As a consultant, Perkins offers the company’s gourmet foods and beverages to guests at home taste-testing parties. Guests receive samples, easy meal ideas, recipes and serving suggestions.

Vara joins COUNTRY Financial
Jorge A. Vara II of Edmond has been named an agent for COUNTRY Financial.
As part of his training, Vara recently completed the organization’s New Agent School. The school is designed to help agents expand their knowledge about the products and financial solutions COUNTRY offers customers. The training also focuses on enhancing communication skills and guiding agents toward successfully setting and achieving goals.
COUNTRY Financial, in business since 1925, provides a full range of insurance and financial services, including auto, commercial, disability income, home/renters, life, long-term care and umbrella insurance.
Vara earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from University of Central Oklahoma in 2006. He resides with his wife Leah and their newborn son, Joseph. Vara is a member of the Edmond Young Professionals’ education and community service committees.

OCU Meinders School of Business offers ‘Building a Better Oklahoma Together’
Oklahoma City University’s Meinders School of Business and The Busey Group have scheduled the “Second Annual Business Forum: Building a Better Oklahoma Together” for Friday.
Registration for the forum will begin at 8 a.m. in the Meinders School of Business atrium. Speakers on education and career development, the aerospace industry, health-care issues, news and communication and other hot topics will follow throughout the day.

AT&T U-verse TV tunes into online photo channel
AT&T Inc. recently announced the launch of AT&T Online Photos from Flickr on AT&T U-verse TV. Customers can now watch slide shows and browse their online photos from flickr.com right on their U-verse TV screens.
AT&T is the only video service provider to offer an integrated online photos channel, and U-verse TV and high speed Internet customers can enjoy this feature at no extra charge. Flickr, a Yahoo! photo-sharing service where users can upload, store, share and tag digital photos.
Customers can access their online photos by tuning to Channel 91 or from the U-verse TV menu. Customers will then select from their Flickr photo sets, which are automatically available from their master AT&T High Speed Internet account, and they can browse photos or start a slide show.
