Beginning this summer, women won’t have to travel thousands of miles to get a taste of Italy. Bella Strada, which means beautiful street in Italian, is a salon suite that will open this summer at 3224 S. Broadway, Suite 100, in the Shoppes on Broadway.
The project is a partnership among Toni James, Tina Parker and Suzy Gordon.
“It’s a new concept that is popular in the west and east,” James said. “It’s the first of its kind in Edmond.”
The building will contain 31 suites that will be leased to hair stylists, nail technicians and other beauticians. Parker said 60 percent of the suites already have been leased. Stylists will set their own prices, hours and advertising.
“It gives the stylist a lot of freedom,” she said. “It allows them to operate a salon in a salon without overhead costs.”
Parker said the Dallas area already practices this same concept and she wanted to bring it to Oklahoma. Bella Strada will be even more unique because the inside will resemble an Italian streetway.
Bella Strada will be a two-story salon and include coffee areas and a retail area. There also will be a dedicated spa area for massages and other spa treatments and a room for private parties.
“We’re going to have fountains inside,” James said.
Parker said each suite will be designed to look like a different Italian boutique to give each stylist individualism. The rooms will have a chair, mirror and shampoo bed, which fully reclines.
They wanted a relaxing and calm environment for customers, Parker said.
“We wanted it to be very unique. I want women to feel like they can escape the world for a little while. Customers get to come see their stylists and have some privacy,” she said.
