Robyn Martin, professional bridal consultant and owner of The Wedding Belle and a 2007 Gala Award finalist, has been featured in Special Events Magazine, an international publication viewed as the event industry’s bible.
The article, “Fancy on the Plains,” appeared in the magazine’s April issue. It spotlights Martin for her extensive knowledge of wedding planning and design and lauds her for helping her clients achieve the elegant, cosmopolitan ambiance and style desired for their wedding day.
“I’m receiving messages of congratulation about the story from all over the world. It’s very exciting,” Martin said.
Martin began offering her services as a wedding planner, part-time, in 2000. In 2004, with encouragement from her family, she founded The Wedding Belle in Edmond.
Within four short years she has grown from assisting a few couples to annually planning about 18 large-scale weddings held in venues throughout Central Oklahoma and employing a staff of four, all of whom are, like Martin, members of the Association of Bridal Consultants (www.bridalassn.com.)
Additionally, Martin is a charter member of The Edmond Wedding Society (www.edmondweddings.com) which was founded in 2006 to inspire and educate brides to enhance their wedding experiences.
“This year I’ve limited myself to 12 weddings so I can fully develop and introduce a design and décor service for my clients,” Martin said. The service involves devising a proposal for each wedding’s design and décor based on the bride’s individual style, the theme she wants and other information. The proposal becomes a blueprint for the wedding day’s setting, its look and mood.
A wedding in 2007 that Martin guided from the selection of vendors to the bride’s bouquet toss lead to the Special Events Magazine article. Martin documented every detail about the wedding — in words, video and photographs — and submitted the plan in the magazine’s Gala Awards competition under the category for Best Wedding of 2007.
The competition, the Oscars of the event planning business, attracts entries from all across the globe. Three top nominees are selected for each award category and Martin was tapped as one of the top Best Wedding nominees.
“It was such an honor to be among the top three. I was in very impressive company — a wedding planning firm from Canada and another from the West Coast,” Martin said
After attending the Gala Awards ceremonies in Atlanta earlier this year, Martin was chosen by Special Events Magazine’s editor to be interviewed for the “Fancy on the Plains” article.
