Edmond Chamber graduates 42 juniors in Youth Leadership Edmond Class

EDMOND — The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Leadership Edmond Class VII graduated 42 Edmond juniors at Oak Tree Country Club on April 22. Youth Leadership Edmond works to motivate and equip high school juniors with leadership skills through activities and interaction with Edmond community leaders. Class VII is hosted by the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce and presented by the Edmond Medical Center. YLE graduation was sponsored by Citizen’s Bank of Edmond.

The class speakers were Bob Cail of Santa Fe High School and Josh Pericas of Memorial High School. Katelyn Rusnack of Memorial High School and Zach Allman of North High School recognized the class sponsors and committee volunteers. Rachel Morris of North High School and Sarah Van Hoose of Santa Fe High School both served as mayors of the Edmond Youth Council during the mock City Council meeting and told about their experience in the program. The invocation and flag salute were presented by Steven Conant of Memorial High School and Amy Pitts of North High School, respectively.

YLE graduates are area high school juniors who reside in the Edmond city limits and/or the Edmond Public School District and attend Edmond Public Schools, Deer Creek (Edmond residents only), private schools, or who are home schooled.

All students have 3.0 GPA or higher. Each student has been selected for the class by demonstrating leadership or leadership potential in family, community, and/or school activities and their desire to develop additional leadership skills. These students also expressed an interest in furthering their knowledge of the Edmond community.

Graduating Class VII includes the following people:

• Edmond Memorial: Melissa C. Davis, Steven Conant, Rachel Davey, Martha Gattenby, Meaghan Hoose, Amanda Ishmael, Parker Lotspeich, Caitlin McClure, Sarah Ming, Joshua Pericas and Katelyn Rusnack.

• Edmond North: Zachary Allman, Claire Atkinson, Brooke Baumert, Emily Cobbs, Bryan Dixon, John Fraser, Charles Funderburk, Victoria Goodfellow, Hailey Holloway, Kyle Hormann, Joshua Koehn, Rachel Morris, Amy Pitts, Kylie Roper and Lindsey Van Osdell.

• Oklahoma Christian School: Amy Lewis.

• Edmond Santa Fe: Lindsey Brinkworth, Robert Cail, Amy Cao, Lena Clark, Laurel Cunningham, Hayley Dolan, Cortez Downey, Constance Ezugha, Tabitha Fleming, Clayton Hatchett, Chelsey Jacks, Ciara Johnson, Ray Tong and Sarah Van Hoose.
