Aduddell prepares for Shoppes at Central Parke

Aduddell Development Group announced in an Edmond Economic Development Authority meeting Friday that they will move dirt and cut streets in the next 60 days on the first phase of Shoppes at Central Parke.

The development will be on the northwest corner of West Edmond Road and Kelly.

Barry Dodson, Aduddell Development Group, said the first phase is 12.5 acres and will include about five buildings. The main building will have 24,000 square feet of retail space, which will cost tenants $18 and up a square foot on the first floor and 28,000 square feet of office space, which will cost $17 to $18 a square foot, on the second floor.

Dodson said the top floor also will include a banquet area.

“We believe Edmond can handle another banquet facility,” Dodson said.

The entire project, which consists of 160 Brownstones, retail and office spaces, probably will take about 30 months, Dodson said. He said they plan to have restaurants and a bank included in the development.

The Brownstone homes will be in a gated community and range between 1,600 and 2,400 square feet each. Dodson said each home will have a unique feel.

They will be able to offer one place for people to live, have their offices and shop, Dodson said.

“We believe it will be a synergy for the development,” he said.

Janet Yowell, EEDA executive director, said Shoppes at Central Parke is one of many improvements being made in Edmond.

“It’s just going to continue redevelopment along Kelly. It’s proof that we’re still thriving. We know some of these people have to be feeling the costs in construction but they’re still making an investment in Edmond,” Yowell said.

She also announced in the meeting that Edmond has seen a 3.48 percent increase in total sales tax collections compared to this same time last year and a 30.41 percent increase above the past five years. She said hotels and motels are continuing to boom with about a 72 percent occupancy rate and there are plans for future hotels and motels. The University of Central Oklahoma is finalizing plans to have a Hilton Hotel on campus and a Comfort Suites is under construction in Edmond.
