EDMOND — Local resident joins Tastefully Simple

Mary Pinto, of Edmond, recently become an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct-sales company featuring easy-to-prepare gourmet products.

As a consultant, she will offer the company’s gourmet foods and beverages to guests at home taste-testing parties. Guests receive samples, easy meal ideas, recipes and serving suggestions.



How long should you retain financial records?

Knowing how long to keep financial records can be confusing. The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants says there are some general guidelines residents can follow to keep their financial records in tip-top shape.

The Internal Revenue Service may challenge an individual tax return up to three years after it is filed and longer if the Service suspects tax fraud or intentional underreporting of income. Also, some lenders may ask for earlier returns when a resident applies for a loan. As a result, tax returns should be kept for a minimum of 10 years. They also contain a lot of valuable information that you may need in the future, including a record of past income, deductions or taxes paid. Supporting documents, including canceled checks and receipts, also may come in handy later.

New restaurant seeks mystery shoppers

There is a new Longhorn Steakhouse opening at 2515 W. Memorial Road. The company is looking for mystery shoppers to do visits for it at this location, which opens Sept. 8.

The company will schedule mystery shoppers to go to Longhorn Steakhouse each week for dinner. After the visit has been completed, the shopper will log on to the company’s site and complete a survey. The shopper will be reimbursed up to $30 for a dinner visit and an additional $10 if the survey is completed on time and as required.

New international data plans available for iPhone users

Two new international data plans, which offer 100 megabytes or 200 megabytes a month, can potentially save iPhone customers hundreds of dollars compared to pay-per-use international data roaming charges. For example, just 2 megabytes of data use at pay-per-use data rates of $0.0195 per kilobyte would cost almost $40, making these new plans valuable for customers traveling outside the United States.

The 100-megabyte iPhone plan is available for $119.99 a month and the 200-megabyte plans costs $199.99 a month. These new plans are in addition to existing international plans for smartphones, including the iPhone, which offer 20 megabytes at $24.99 a month and 50 megabytes at $59.99 a month.

Discount Tire opens in Oklahoma

Discount Tire, the world’s largest independent tire and wheel retailer, with more than 700 locations nationwide, will establish new operations in Oklahoma by opening five retail stores in the Oklahoma City and Moore areas by January.

The first location at 10800 N. May Ave. opened the last weekend of August and the second location at 8268 N.W. Expressway will open the first week of October.

The grand opening event for the first two stories will be Oct. 16-18. The public can enter in a free raffle to win a set of four in-stock wheels at each location.

Customers also can take advantage of special event pricing and save up to $100 off on a set of four new tires or wheels and $200 off on a tire and wheel package honored at both locations.

The Oklahoma City stores will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
