BancFirst Financial Services professional earns national certification
Michael Dickinson, senior vice president and trust officer at BancFirst was awarded the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers, a nonprofit organization sponsored by the American Bankers Association in Washington, D.C.
The CTFA designation is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of wealth management and trust. To qualify for the CTFA certification, individuals must have certain levels of experience and education in the trust profession, pass an exam and agree to abide by a code of ethics.
Dickinson currently serves as the manager for the Personal Trust Group in Oklahoma City and the Trust Oil & Gas Asset Management Group. He is a certified public accountant.
Dickinson served as the first chairman on the board of the Office of Juvenile Affairs and then as an Oklahoma Department of Human Services Commissioner. He recently completed two terms on the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association National Board of Directors and served on the Executive Board. Dickinson currently serves on the OSU Foundation Board of Governors.

Allstate agency celebrates first anniversary

Oklahoma Commission approves OG&E renewable program
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission voted 3-0 to approve OG&E’s comprehensive renewable energy program, which includes construction of a high-capacity transmission line between Woodward and Oklahoma City.
OG&E submitted a request to the Commission in May, detailing its commitment to quadruple its wind energy capacity in the state to at least 770 megawatts. An important first step is the 115-mile, 345 kilovolt transmission line between Woodward and Oklahoma City.
The cost of the plan to the average residential customer, including the cost of adding the new transmission line and new wind generation, as well as savings from using wind energy, is estimated at $1.50 per month in 2010.
The new OG&E renewable energy purchase program will be implemented early next year.
DEQ plans workshop on diesel emission retrofits
The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality is making available $408,193 in grant money to Oklahoma public school districts and refuse haulers to retrofit diesel buses and trash trucks with select emission control devices. A workshop will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23 at DEQ’s Oklahoma City office. School districts, refuse hauling companies and municipalities with their own trash services are invited to attend and receive information on the health effects of diesel exhaust, an overview of diesel emission retrofits being funded through this program and specific details of the program and funding.

Seminar to help women become debt-free
According to data from the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts, Oklahoma ranks sixth in the country for personal bankruptcies.
At the annual women’s financial conference, “Do It Herself: A Journey to Financial Freedom,” CPA Mary Krause will deliver advice on getting out of debt that can help increase financial security.
The Tulsa conference will be from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10, at the Clarion Meridian Convention Center.
Created for women, by women, “Do it Herself” also will include classes on investing, basic budgeting, estate planning, reducing taxable income, protecting yourself from identity theft, retirement planning and more.

AT&T has announced the availability of AT&T Tech Support 360SM, a 24-hour, seven days a week IT help desk that provides live, technical service for small businesses. The service offers set-up, configuration, troubleshooting for PCs and Macs, Wi-Fi networks and peripheral network devices, including printers scanners and routers.
The service serves as a “virtual IT director” to help small businesses avoid the costs of bringing technicians in-house or wasting time trying to fix problems themselves. Chamber taking nominations for Small Business of the Year
The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce is taking nominations for the 2008 Bank of Oklahoma Small Business of the Year. The nomination form is available on the Edmond Chamber Web page. Nominations close on Nov. 1. The Small Business of the Year award will be presented Feb. 6 at the Chamber’s Annual Awards Banquet.
The objective of the award is to honor businesses that have made significant growth and outstanding contributions to the economy and the overall progress of the Edmond area.
Businesses must employ no more than 50 full-time employees, have been in the business for at least three years, be a locally owned for-profit business and be in good standing with the chamber for the previous two years,
