EDMOND —
Certificate awarded for 23rd consecutive year
The Government Finance Officers Association awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Edmond for its comprehensive annual financial report for the period ending June 30, 2008. This is the 23rd consecutive year for Edmond to receive the recognition.
The certificate recognizes conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government financial reports. According to the GFOA, attaining the certificate represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“The City of Edmond remains committed to providing our citizens with clear and transparent financial reports like our Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, and we encourage all of our stakeholders to review the various financial documents available on the city’s Web site,” said Financial Services Director Ross VanderHamm.
Five hundred and ninety cities, towns and counties in Oklahoma are eligible for the recognition. This year 12 local government entities received the award, including Edmond and eight other cities. The other cities that were recognized include Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman, Stillwater, Guymon, Mustang, Nichols Hills and Sand Springs.
Edmond’s financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the city’s financial story.
Residents can access the financial report, the annual budget and a financial statement analysis (Performeter) through the city’s Web site at edmondok.com, under City Government, Financial Services.
