Braum’s CEO serves as UCO business leader in residence

EDMOND — The University of Central Oklahoma’s College of Business Administration welcomes Tony Bostwick, chief executive officer of Braum’s Inc. and Central alumnus, as its Leader in Residence for the 2009-10 academic year.

Bostwick began his Leader in Residence experience on Oct. 19, speaking to MBA students about leadership challenges and ethical issues he has confronted in his career. He will lead two to three presentations with students throughout the year.

Bostwick returns to Central after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1975.

Central’s Leader in Residence program offers students the opportunity to interact with local business and civic leaders who model engagement in their professional and civic roles.

“We believe our students need more than theory and academic preparation to be successful — they need practical knowledge and real-world applications of leadership in today’s dynamic business world,” said Mike Shirley, CBA dean.

“The Leader in Residence program serves as an excellent bridge between the college and our local and regional stakeholders, providing incredible examples of positive and ethical leadership.”

Previous CBA Leaders in Residence include Tom Price, senior vice president of corporate development for Chesapeake Energy; Brent Gooden, president of The Gooden Group Inc.; and Lynn Hester, system vice president of marketing and community service for Integris Health.
