Burnett & Brown raises funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation through ‘Flock of Flamingos’
Burnett & Brown, P.L.L.C. employees are having a “Flock of Flamingos” fundraiser to “Adopt-A-Wish” through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma. The wish that we have chosen to “adopt” is for a child who would like to go on a family vacation to Disney World. Our goal is to raise $7,000.00 by Christmas.
We are raising funds by deploying flocks of pink plastic flamingos in the front yards of businesses and residents in our area. For a donation of just $25.00 people can send a “flock of flamingos” to a friend or family member, or to send a flock to a business we ask for a $50.00 donation. In order to have the flock removed, the recipient will make a donation. The recipient will then choose one or more friends, family members or businesses (at no additional cost) to have the next opportunity to participate. For a one time fee of $50.00 you may purchase “Flamingo Insurance”; this is a way to ensure that you do not receive a visit from the flock.

Legacy Bank awarded for ‘Making a Difference’
The directors, officers and employees of Legacy Bank of Oklahoma City were honored by their association, the Community Bankers Association of Oklahoma, for “Making a Difference” in the communities they serve. This award was presented at the 2008 CBAO Convention Sept. 18 at the Skirvin Hilton Grand Ballroom in Oklahoma City. Community banks across the state were invited to submit an entry highlighting a special way they impacted the people of their service area.
The Legacy Bank entry described its efforts of taking volunteerism to a more formal level with a program named Connect Time. Full-time employees are given 40 hours per year of bank time to be used as community service projects, in addition to charitable acts they do on their own. The program allows bank staff to actively plan for opportunities to serve that happen to occur during what would normally be working hours. Legacy bankers deliver meals to the elderly, prepare boxes of food for Oklahoma Communities and other efforts.
