UCO business students plan pancake breakfast

The Edmond Sun

EDMOND University of Central Oklahoma business students will host a Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebee’s Restaurant in Edmond from 8-10 a.m. Nov. 21 to raise funds needed to complete improvement projects at the Horse Feathers Equine Rescue Facility in Guthrie.

As a part of the UCO College of Business Administration’s senior-level Project Management course, Central students will build two loafing sheds and install a water line at the horse rescue facility. The assignment includes managing every aspect of the project, including funding, budgeting, purchasing and construction.

Dr. Geoff Willis, the class professor, said students hope to sell enough tickets to the Flapjack Fundraiser by the end of October to secure the $1,600 needed for project materials so they can begin purchasing items for their workday at Horse Feathers in early November.

“Transformational learning is, at its core, learning by doing, and there is no more valuable way to learn than to oversee an ambitious project from start to finish and for that project to mean something to you and the community,” Willis said.

Tickets to the Flapjack Fundraiser are $5. To purchase tickets to the Flapjack Fundraiser or make donations to the project, please visit busn.uco.edu/flapjackfundraiser.

For more information, contact Willis at 974-5343 or gwillis@uco.edu.
