Women’s Conference set for Nov. 16

Special to The Sun

EDMOND — The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Network Council has set the speakers for the keynote lunch and break-out sessions at the fourth annual Women’s Leadership Conference. The conference will be presented by OU Medical Center-Edmond on Nov. 16 in the UCO Nigh University Center.

“Our committee has worked tirelessly to make this our best conference yet. Our speakers are quite accomplished and will certainly inspire women to reach for their dreams in all facets of their life,” said Leslie Buford, 2012 Women’s Leadership Conference chairwoman.

The keynote speaker will be Biggest Loser season 11 runner-up, Hannah Curlee. Curlee is half the woman she used to be — or 51.6 percent of her former self, to be exact. By the show’s end Curlee, who is now director of health engagement for H2U (Health To You), had dropped 120 pounds. The former homecoming queen and accomplished athlete was sidelined by an accident at age 20 that resulted in back surgery. Today, Curlee is committed to sharing her story with other women.

The session topics include Integrity in the Workplace with speaker Pam Kanaly of Arise Ministries; Becoming Superwoman: Learn How To Have A Career and Manage Your Relationships with speaker Ann Benjamin; How to Turn Your Passion Into A Career with speaker Camille Herron, winner of the Oklahoma City Marathon; and The Ladies Room: Women Working with Women featuring speaker Darcie Harris of EWF International.

The conference’s theme is “Imagine the Possibilities, Achieve the Reality.” The conference will start with an opening session, followed by four breakout sessions and concluding with Curlee speaking during lunch.

Women can register and pay online for the conference on the Edmond Chamber’s website, Download a registration form to choose a breakout session. The cost for chamber members is $60 for the whole day or $40 for lunch only. For non-members, the cost is $70 for the whole day or $50 for lunch only.
