Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission launches official website

Special to The Sun

EDMOND — The Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission announced recently that its official website is operational and ready for public use.

“I am excited about the launch of the new commission website,” Commissioner Denise Engle said. “I believe that it serves as a vital link to educate Oklahomans accessing the new administrative workers’ compensation system.”

The website is designed to inform and assist claimants, business leaders and industry professionals ahead of the agency’s statutorily mandated Feb. 1, 2014, start date. The website also contains links to other relevant information.

The website is www.wcc.ok.gov.

The Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission is a new agency created by legislation passed and signed into law last year. The Oklahoma Supreme Court upheld the measure.

The commission is charged with implementing an administrative style workers’ compensation benefit system. It will become operational Monday.

The commission will be assisting injured Oklahoma employees settle their workers’ compensation claims. It is intended to handle claims more efficiently, which should allow employees to return to work more quickly.

The commission is working with the Workers’ Compensation Court, which on Monday will be known as the Court of Existing Claims, to facilitate a smooth transition.
