OKLA. CITY —
AAA’s biggest travel shows of the year are scheduled Jan. 12 in Tulsa and Jan. 13 in Oklahoma City.
“We call them Travel Extravaganzas because more than 20 cruise lines, attractions and travel companies will be there,” said Krista Mullenger, vice president of Travel, AAA Oklahoma. “These dual shows happen only once a year so we make sure they’re worthwhile for folks to come out and attend them.”
The first event will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Tulsa at the Crowne Plaza (formerly the Hilton), 7900 S. Lewis Ave. in south central Tulsa. For more information, call 918-748-1021.
The second event will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday in Oklahoma City at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club, 3501 Quail Creek Road in northwest Oklahoma City. For more information, call 717-8200.
“Besides some great door prizes, we’ll also have some very good travel deals which will only be available at these shows,” Mullenger said.
Representatives of major cruise lines will be there, including Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Disney, Princess, Carnival, Seabourn and Celebrity, along with attractions, such as Disney parks and specialty tour companies like Uniworld river cruising, Continental Kapers and Insight Vacations. Admission is $2 for AAA members and $4 for non-members. Children under age 18 are free when accompanied by an adult.
In addition there will be eight “Open Mouse” events, sponsored by Disney, at AAA offices across Oklahoma starting this Wednesday. Disney Sales Manager Adam Blackstock will be on hand at all eight, along with refreshments and Disney vacation values and savings.
“January is Disney Month at our AAA Oklahoma Travel offices,” Mullenger said. “These special Open Mouse celebrations are the perfect time to catch up on all the new things Disney has going on and take advantage of some special Disney deals.”
The two events closest to Edmond are:
• Oklahoma City — 3557 W. Memorial Rd., on Jan. 14 from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Edmond — 3222 S. Boulevard on Jan. 15 from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
