Owners of two Edmond companies are taking the ideas for their businesses and melding them together.
Melany Boughman, owner of Cupcakes To Go Go, and Leah Haskins, owner of Epicurean’s Pantry, have combined a friendship with a love of quality items to form their new business model.
Epicurean’s Pantry on Danforth is closing but moving popular items to Cupcakes To Go Go where both owners will be combining a love for quality food and items to prepare it with their love for wine, cheese, beer, cupcake and chocolate tastings.
“We met through our businesses almost three years ago,” Boughman said, when she left her job at Devon Energy because she felt it was time to do something different.
“After I had my children I wanted to do something closer to home,” Boughman said.
Business start
Haskins sold Sonoma vanilla from the Sonoma Syrup Co. in Sonoma, Calif., which by the way happens to be the name of one of the cupcakes, Sonoma Valley Vanilla that Cupcakes To Go Go sells.
“Sonoma vanilla is a super popular vanilla, and I told Leah if she ever decides to stop selling it I would like to sell it in my store,” Boughman said.
One of Haskins’ loves is the tasting parties she provides including pairing wine or beer with cheese.
“Her wine and chocolate tastings are popular and believe it or not beer or wine and cupcake tastings are becoming more popular,” Boughman said. “It is fun to try to find combinations that work.”
Boughman said she constantly has business ideas but no time, and she hopes partnering with Haskins will help her do some things she is interested in for her business. She also wants to continue selling some of Haskins’ other product lines including chocolate, honey, spices and a few other baking products.
“I would like to be a one-stop shop for fine quality products and items you can’t get everywhere else,” Boughman said.
Epicurean’s Pantry is having a “Going out of Business” sale with items marked down. The sale excludes salt blocks, art, furniture, dishes and gift baskets.
“Now is a great time to stock up on your game day snacks, cheese or Christmas gifts,” Haskins said.
Haskins still will be booking her beer, wine and cheese or cupcake tasting parties, which will be at Cupcakes To Go Go, and she will be taking orders for the Cheese of the Month Club.
“Every third Thursday of the month, three thoughtfully chosen cheeses are assembled and can be picked up at Cupcakes To Go Go,” Haskins said. “This is a great way to learn and experience cheese plus it makes a great gift. For more details send a request to food@epicureanspantry.com.”

About Cupcakes to go go
At Cupcakes To Go Go, the cupcakes have names as fun to say as they are to eat. A travel theme is used for many of the cupcakes named for a destination, a landmark or a local flavor, like Leaning Tower of Peanut Butter — chocolate icing on a peanut butter cupcake topped with a peanut butter kiss cookie — and When in Rome — a cream cheese frosting topping an Italian Cream cupcake.
The cupcake menu with close to 45 flavors has 12 flavors every day depending in part on what is ordered ahead of time as well as what rotates seasonally.
“We have some standbys that appear daily in October like Great Plains Pumpkin and Bricktown Brookie, which is an iced chocolate chip cookie baked into a brownie. Some cupcake flavors rotate seasonally like Canada, Eh?, which is a maple French toast cake topped with maple bacon cream cheese frosting,” said owner Melany Boughman.
“During the Christmas holiday season we have Red Velvet cupcakes and a Sugar Cookie cupcake, which is a slightly almond-flavored cake and icing with a Christmas cookie on top.”
