OKLA. CITY —
Junior Achievement of Oklahoma Inc., the state’s largest organization dedicated to teaching young people skills to achieve economic success, is privileged to have local entrepreneur Herman Meinders to serve as the keynote speaker on April 17 during the Oklahoma City region’s inaugural Business Success Series event.
“Herman Meinders embodies the spirit of entrepreneurism and personal financial success that Junior Achievement will inspire in over 49,000 Oklahoma students this year,” said Junior Achievement Board Chairwoman Darcie Henderson. “And just like the students JA teaches each day, local business professionals are sure to learn valuable lessons when Herman shares his personal story.”
In 1970, Meinders founded American Floral Services Inc., an international flowers-by-wire service based in Oklahoma City. AFS began in a garage apartment and initially consisted of 137 subscriber florists. From that beginning, AFS grew to become international in scope and ranked as one of the largest floral wire services in the world. In November of 2000 AFS merged with Teleflora, a competitor, to better serve the floral community.
The Business Success Series luncheon, which is sponsored by Bank of the West, will be hosted by Oklahoma City University’s Meinders School of Business. It will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 17. To reserve a table of eight, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 235-3399.
In Oklahoma, JA delivered personal finance and business curriculum to 45,890 young people last year. Visit www.jaok.org for more information.
