EDMOND —
Oklahoma City Allstate exclusive agent Tim Missaghi presented Infant Crisis Services with a $1,000 grant as part of The Allstate Foundation’s “Agency Hands in the Community” program.
The grant program, which began in 2003, recognizes Allstate agents’ volunteerism within the community and provides financial support to organizations through The Allstate Foundation. Every Allstate agent who volunteers for a charitable organization in their community may qualify for this award.
Infant Crisis Services has earned a grant award from The Allstate Foundation in each of the past four years as a result of Missaghi’s participation with the organization.
“These grant funds will provide food and necessary items to babies and toddlers who otherwise wouldn’t have them,” Missaghi said. “The experiences I’ve enjoyed over the last four years working with Infant Crisis Services have been life-changing. This organization truly improves the lives of thousands of Oklahoma babies and toddlers.”
Infant Crisis Services Inc. is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit agency headquartered in Oklahoma City that supplies life-sustaining formula and food as well as diapers and clothing for babies and toddlers in times of crisis. Oklahoma has the eighth-highest incidence of childhood poverty in the U.S. and Infant Crisis Services serves more than 1,000 babies and toddlers in central Oklahoma each month. Infant Crisis Services bridges the gap in current services as some government programs require waiting periods during critical times in a baby’s development and don’t provide diapers or certain medically-prescribed formulas.
“We’re extremely grateful to Tim and The Allstate Foundation for this grant and all the grants given to us over the last four years. Tim has been amazing with his time and support for our organization,” said Miki Farris, executive director of Infant Crisis Services. “Since all of our funding comes from the generosity of the community, this money goes a long way to filling the needs for families who are otherwise unable to appropriately provide necessities for their infants.”
Allstate agents who are honored with an Agency Hands in the Community award can serve nonprofit groups in many capacities — as volunteers, mentors, program partners and leaders. Organizations must qualify for tax-deductible contributions under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
