EDMOND — A new Volkswagen dealership has come to town. Volkswagen of Edmond is welcoming customers at 14220 N. Broadway Ext., said Mory Richardson, managing partner of the dealership he owns with Bob Howard.

“We’re remodeling the store and are going to build a new facility,” Richardson said.

A new facility is being retrofitted into a former Ford dealership. When completed, a modern design will be compatible with the Volkswagen brand, Richardson added.

“We are currently in the south location just due to the remodel,” Richardson said.

New roofing, air conditioners and windows are will be added to both buildings. The new facility is expected to be completed in less than 10 months, he said.

Volkswagen of Edmond invites the public to its grand opening Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Refreshments including hot dogs and chips will be available for guests.

Volkswagen of Edmond is affiliated with the Bob Howard Auto Mall. Those dealerships maintaining the name of Bob Howard are now owned by Group l Automotive. Howard was a founding father of Group l Automotive, Richardson said. Howard is no longer affiliated with Group l.

“Volkswagen is growing in North America,” Richardson said. “They’re studying their demographics a great deal and, you can imagine the population in Edmond. It really provides a very intelligent buyer. These cars are priced friendly.”

German engineering mastered for safety makes Volkswagen an attractive choice for the community, he said.

“We’re excited to join the other dealers in providing the level of service that Oklahomans expect in purchasing a car,” Richardson said.
