OKLA. CITY — Each year an Oklahoma Governor’s ornament is created to benefit “Friends of the Mansion,” a nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion and grounds. All proceeds from the ornament sales help fund improvements and activities at the Mansion. The 2012 Governor’s ornament was made in Oklahoma this year at MTM Recognition. Oklahoma’s Gov. Mary Fallin took a tour of MTM’s Oklahoma City headquarters recently to get a first-hand look at the craftsmanship behind these holiday keepsakes.

“Having only an hour with the governor to cover a 20-acre campus and numerous manufacturing processes was no easy task,” said Bob Thomas, vice president of operations at MTM Recognition. The tour began in MTM’s Image Room, a living museum of the who’s who in notable awards throughout the country. The governor and her staff were guided through areas associated with the ornament project including MTM’s FlexCom printing department, etching, assembly and finishing departments.

As the tour ended at the showroom, MTM Recognition’s President and CEO Roger Mashore and Account Manager Chuck Kunhart presented Gov. Fallin with a framed collage of her ornament’s artwork, painted by MTM’s Creative Director Jeff Weis.

“Gov. Fallin, we are fortunate that when you decided that these ornaments needed to be made in Oklahoma that we were well positioned as a manufacturer to answer the call,” Mashore said. “We appreciate the stand that you make for the pro-business environment that you have created in our state.”

Fallin spoke to the large crowd of MTM employees gathered round the room.

“We are continually looking for creative minds in Oklahoma as fostering a culture of creativity is important to our state,” Fallin said. “I’ve known Dave Smith for a very long time and the story of MTM and its growth over the years is a very inspiring one to me. On behalf of the citizens of Oklahoma and the governor’s office, I’d like to thank you for the jobs you’ve created, the risks you’ve taken along the way and for the many creative minds that shape MTM Recognition. The talent and skill you have here is amazing. You see the vision before it is completed and I admire that,” Fallin said. “MTM Recognition puts Oklahoma on the map, impacting not only our state but the entire world.”
