Filigree, which replaced Simply Southwest in downtown Edmond, had its grand opening events this month.
Store co-owner Kasey Wood said her store offers “a good mix” of western inspired and fashion clothing or “high fashion with a western flare,” as described by Windy French, associate and stylist with Filigree.
Wood co-owns the new venture with her mother Kay Jeanes.
She said with her being in her 30s and her mother being in her 50s, Filigree offers a great selection of clothing for all ages.
“We have a good mix of opinion on clothing and we offer a wide range of fashion that appeals to a wide range of people,” Wood said.
Wood said Filigree is also a great place to shop for unique pieces.
“It’s hard to find these brands and higher-end clothing that cross over and we want to offer that to people,” Wood said.
Wood said she and her mother decided to create the store after Jeanes went shopping for high-end western clothing for the Boots & Ball Gowns Gala at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
“It wasn’t easy to find,” Wood said.
Jeanes went to the store Simply Southwest to look for clothing to wear for the event and discovered the store would be closing due to the retirement of Simply Southwest owner Lesta Oliver.
Wood sad her mother talked with Oliver in April of this year about brands and securing lines, then the two “decided to go with it” and created the store concept. Then, nearly six months later on Oct. 21, Filigree opened its doors.
During the first weekend in November, Filigree had its grand opening and trunk show. Wood said an estimated 100 people came into the store during Friday’s and Saturday’s events.
Jeanes said it has been a rewarding experience to work with her daughter.
“It’s been good,” Jeanes said. “It’s been a new experience for us, but it’s been good. We think a lot alike, especially with the clothes and stuff. We are on the same page. It’s going to be a good experience for the both of us.”
Filigree is at 1 N. Broadway in downtown Edmond.
