OKLA. CITY —
Verizon Wireless invested more than $62 million during 2012 to enhance and expand the nation’s largest 4G LTE network. This expansion will continue in 2013 as Verizon completes the implementation of its 4G LTE network in Oklahoma and nationwide by mid-year. As part of the company’s initial nationwide roll-out of its 4G LTE network, Oklahoma City has been equipped with the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network since Dec. 5, 2010.
“Delivering a wireless network Oklahomans can depend on is our top priority,” said Dean Taylor, president of the South Central Region of Verizon Wireless. “From conducting business on the road, to surfing and cheering on your favorite team at the state’s biggest sporting events, to fishing on Lake McMurtry we are continually working to provide our customers with the absolute best network across Oklahoma.”
Verizon Wireless’ network expansion across Oklahoma during 2012 included the launch of the company’s 4G LTE network in cities that include Altus, Ardmore, Chickasha, Cushing, Duncan, Durant, Ponca City and Stillwater among others, as well as surrounding areas and along key highways and interstates. 4G LTE network speeds also can be found in many rural communities in Oklahoma with the installation of new cell sites throughout the state.
Verizon’s premier technology ensured reliable network connections for fans at both Boone Pickens and Gaylord Stadiums in Stillwater and Norman, respectively. Prior to the kick-off of football season, Verizon Wireless installed a state-of-the-art 4G LTE wireless Distributed Antenna System in each stadium to enhance network strength and capacity. Resources to improve the service at these stadiums allow the tens of thousands of fans to text, surf, tweet and talk with more reliable coverage.
From Oklahoma’s metropolitan areas to several rural communities, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network covers more than 241 communities across the state and more than 83 percent of Oklahoma’s population, more 4G LTE coverage in Oklahoma than any other wireless provider. In addition, Home Fusion Broadband by Verizon gives customers the speed of 4G LTE in home internet. Verizon’s 4G LTE service continues to be the global standard in wireless technology, covering four out of five Americans nationally.
Headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J., with more than 75,000 employees nationwide, Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone.
