Edmond residents have a new facility to find their inner warrior.

LA Fitness opened its first fitness site in West Covina, Calif., in 1984, and opened their newest facility in Edmond next to Kohl’s on Danforth, Dec. 30. The Edmond location brings the total number of sites to 615 in the United States and 16 in Canada.

Members are already enjoying the facility.

“Industry surveys indicate that convenience is paramount to staying with a fitness program, which is why we locate our clubs along a normal path of travel right along with daily needs shopping like grocers and drug stores as we have here in Edmond at the intersection of West Danforth Road and North Santa Fe Avenue,” said Bill Horner, senior vice president chief real estate officer for LA Fitness.

“We operate in over 30 major markets and the demographics of Edmond are proven to us to contain a high percentage of people that consider fitness an important component of their lifestyle,” Horner said.

LA Fitness offers state-of-the-art equipment and several amenities at a low cost, Horner added, plus classes that come with membership.

Among the classes and equipment offered at LA Fitness are cardio areas designed for comfort and equipped with state-of-the-art machines, aerobics studios with group fitness classes such as Kickbox Cardio, cycling and yoga, free weights, a three-lane indoor swimming pool, spacious locker rooms with saunas as well as offering personal training. Classes can be altered for the beginner or senior to the athletically inclined. In addition, each site offers a Kids Klub babysitting service.

To facilitate the activities, the club employs up to 50 full- and part-time employees, and personal trainers are available through the Pro Results Training Program for an additional fee.

Membership costs for individual and family include a $99 initiation fee and $29.99 a month with no long-term contract required. Family members can be added for a $25 initiation fee and $29.99 a month. A three-day guest pass is also available.

“LA Fitness strives to provide the best value for the fitness dollar,” Horner said. “Large quantities and selection of state-of-the-art equipment coupled with all the activity options and classes included at no additional charge deliver great value to LA Fitness members.”
