EDMOND — As part of its continuing effort to reduce the number of crashes in the city, the Edmond Police Department has released a crash map.

The department posted the map on its official Facebook page, which reveals concentrated areas of crashes in the city in March, along with a heads up on the related enforcement areas for April.

“We give you the heads up because these are problem areas and we’d like to see the speed decrease,” the agency stated in a post.

Police Sgt. Acey Hopper, who coordinates the enforcement effort, said the most wrecks in March were on Broadway at the intersections with 33rd Street, 15th Street and West Edmond Road/Second Street. Hopper said the main enforcement areas will be a quarter of a mile in all directions from these intersections.

This does not mean officers are neglecting other areas.

Each month, the department has been notifying the public on its Facebook page about the enforcement areas. Hopper initiated the effort after a statistical analysis of high-crash areas in the city.
