Edmond attorneys to receive awards
EDMOND — Two Edmond attorneys will be recognized by the Oklahoma Bar Association at its 102nd annual meeting, to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Tulsa on Wednesday and Thursday.
Randy Grau is the recipient of the Earl Sneed Continuing Legal Education Award, given annually to an OBA member for outstanding continuing legal education contributions.
Also being honored is Janice Loyd, who will receive the Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service for offering outstanding free legal assistance to children and families.
The two are among 20 individuals and groups receiving OBA awards this year.
Grau has been the program planner and moderator for the OBA/CLE Ethics Musical Series since 2003. The CLE presenters rewrite the words to popular songs so they frame legal issues and otherwise provide satire of everyday legal practice.
He is a member of the OBA Young Lawyers Division Board of Directors, elected in 2004, and is active in other OBA activities. He also is a former award-winning member of both the Robert J. Turner and William J. Holloway Jr. American Inns of Court.
He has published articles about expert witnesses, legislation, professionalism and legal ethics ,which have been used throughout the nation in CLE presentations.
Loyd was one of the early Oklahoma Lawyers for Children volunteers. She has been involved in four cases, two of which still are open. The case described in her award nomination is a case which she has worked twice. Loyd spent more than 250 hours on the second case, as well as out-of-pocket expenses of about $100.
