Commission considers plats for Grand Timber Addition

EDMOND — The Edmond Planning Commission agreed 4-0 this week to approve both the preliminary and final plat for the Grand Timber Addition.

Kanaly Properties Inc. owns the property, located west of Midwest Boulevard on the north side of Coffee Creek Road. Chris Moore owns the adjoining property to the west of the plat.

“My main concern is the extra water that would be coming to us. I understand they are going to do a retention pond,” Moore said.

A retention pond could potentially create erosion problems, Moore said. City Engineer Steve Manek would not agree with engineer Ernie Isch’s suggestion to discard a retention pond from being developed. The plan is in compliance with the Edmond drainage ordinance, Isch said.

“Title 23 does not allow you to increase the rate of water runoff from the property,” Manek said.

Schiermeyer said there are no city codes to require the developer to provide a barbed-wire fence as was requested by Moore.

Tim Altendorf of Pedestal Oil Company said the company operates two wells on the tract. He has been working on a surface agreement with Kanaly Properties to set some guidelines, Altendorf said.

“Right now we’re not objecting to what they want to do,” Altendorf said.

The City Council will consider the item Oct. 14.
