EDMOND — Petra Industries, the nation’s leading wholesale distributor of consumer electronics, wireless accessories, custom installation products, mobile audio/video accessories and appliance connection supplies, recently announced its 15th annual Charity Golf Tournament raised $70,000 to support Mercy Ministries of America and Whiz Kids Oklahoma.

“Petra is committed to giving back to the community and we look forward to holding this charity golf tournament every year where we can partner with other companies who have that same commitment,” said Bill Stewart, CEO/founder of Petra Industries. “These funds help change the lives of so many children and young adults and without the support of our business partners none of this is possible. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to share these organizations’ stories and give back something to help continue their fight.”

This year’s tournament had more than 150 of Petra’s vendors, partners and employees enjoying a cocktail reception and Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at Fox & Hound Pub and Grille on Oct. 9. Participants teed it up for a shotgun start in the annual best-ball scramble at Oak Tree Country Club the morning of Oct. 10. The tournament concluded with a luncheon for all attendees and prizes were awarded for best team score, longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin.

A prize raffle was also held and the day concluded with Stewart presenting checks for $35,000 each to Lauren Hobar, community relations manager of Mercy Ministries of America, and Bea Jai Webb, director, Whiz Kids Oklahoma.

“We want every young woman to receive healing, hope and life-transformation. We’re grateful to Petra and all of the sponsors of this terrific event for helping to make that possible,” Hobar said.

“Because of the generosity of all the sponsors of this great event, we have many success stories to tell. Stories of reaching inner-city youth that would not stand a chance of success without the academic tutoring or mentoring provided at Whiz Kids and stories of making a difference in peoples lives and changing the impact of poverty in our community,” Webb said. “Because of Petra, we are here to humbly say thank you.”
