Sam’s Club offers tax-free weekend open house event

EDMOND — Sam’s Club invites Oklahoma communities to prepare for back-to-class routines with a three-day August Open House event. To celebrate Oklahoma’s sales tax holiday Aug. 2-4, Sam’s Club and will offer public access to members-only savings and services without a shopping upcharge. Public access will be directed to the Member Services desk upon entrance to receive a temporary membership pass that allows them to shop with no fees during the three-day event.

According to National Retail Federation’s 2013 Back-to-College survey, college students and their families will spend an average $836.83 on apparel, electronics, dorm furnishings and more. With average spending down from $907.22 last year, it is clear that families are seeking savings.

Open House attendees can take advantage of innovative members-only services that save time and money throughout the back-to-class transition. Instead of bringing Sam’s Club college essentials from home, families can shop with the Click ‘n’ Pull service on for convenient pick-up in the Sam’s Club nearest their college or university.

When families consult the Back-to-College Checklist to submit an order through Click ‘n’ Pull by 5 p.m., a club associate will pull the items for pick-up and payment as early as 7 a.m. the next day. To find the closest Sam’s Club near campus, visit

Sam’s Club also offers a Collegiate Membership for $45 annually, which includes a $15 gift card upon sign-up, plus an extra card for a lucky roommate or study partner. Students must show valid student identification or email with an “.edu” suffix at their local Sam’s Club to qualify.
