The final plat of the second section of Fox Lake Plaza was approved recently by the Edmond Planning Commission. The vote was 5-0 for the tract located south of Fox Lake Lane, west of Interstate 35.
Fox Lake Investments owner Jim Tapp plans to develop a retail building on his property, said Bob Schiermeyer, city planner. The plat consists of one block and one lot, he added.
“This is just part of some more land that develops retail,” Schiermeyer said.
The Mercy Health Systems Medical Clinic is located to the south, Schiermeyer said. Fox Lake Lane and the I-35 Frontage road will provide access to the property.
“This plat is actually zoned for light industrial on 2.53 acres right along the frontage road,” Schiermeyer said. “They will have a 100-foot setback to Fox Lake Lane. There is a driveway there as well as a shared drive on the south that’s been approved on the site plan.”
Former Fox Lake Plaza property owner Frank Battle had previously sought approval for a building larger than 20,000 square feet on the plat. However, the plat had never been accepted, Schiermeyer explained. A review of the building permit is ongoing, he said.
“I don’t know of any problems,” Schiermeyer said.
