Edmond Chamber selects new chairman for 2013

EDMOND — The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce has selected Darin Kent, president OKC/Edmond, Regent Bank, as its 2013 chairman. The 2014 chairman-elect will be Matt Peterson of Jetta Corporation.

Kent said, “It is a true privilege to serve as chairman this year as Edmond continues to be a community that flourishes in all aspects. The Chamber of Commerce is already operating at a very high level, but we are extremely fortunate to have this outstanding list of business leaders on the board to help us continue improving the benefits to our membership. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve in this role, and for the involvement and commitment of all Chamber staff, board members, volunteers and Chamber members.”

Board members elected for a new three-year term are: Bret Towne, Edmond Public Schools; Angie Johnson, Coppermark Bank; Avilla Williams, Integris Health Edmond; Glenn Fisher, Edmond Electric; Aaron Steffens, Mercy Health Center; and Jan Moran, AT&T. Bryan Evans of Evans & Davis, has been appointed to a one-year term by Kent. These new members began their terms on Jan. 1, and will be formally introduced at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet on Jan. 25.

Returning Edmond Chamber Board of Directors include: Carl Tipton, Midcon Data Services; Ron Decker, Innovative Healthcare Systems; Dr. John deSteiguer, Oklahoma Christian University; Pam Gonzaque, Allegiance Credit Union; Randy Matthews, Matthews Funeral Home; Dusty Boren, 4Corners; Tom Friedemann, Francis Tuttle Technology Center; Gary Goldman, Uptown Kids; Dan Howard, Rubenstein, McCormick & Pitts; Tad Kennedy, Kennedy Tire & Auto Service; Myron Pope, University of Central Oklahoma; and Kenneth Wohl, Spirit Bank Mortgage.

The Board of Directors is responsible for guiding the organization and coordinating activities with the chamber’s professional staff. They also set policy for the chamber.
