Weavers in Ashford Oaks are Yard of the Week winners

EDMOND — Wally and Jodi Weaver, 2825 Ashford Oaks Boulevard in the Ashford Oaks addition, are this week’s Edmond Yard of the Week winners.

This pleasingly colorful yard stands out after a brutal week of all-time high record temperatures, when many have given up on their flowers and yards.

A pleasing blend of colors and textures are provided by this yard that has several blue atlas cedars, pines and native oaks to shade their beds of angelonias, red hibiscus, red knock-out roses, red mandevillias, assorted Gerber and Becky daisies, pink and white whirling garu and purple asters. Also included in the beds are many bright and freisland salvia, obedient flowers, Mexican heather, purple petunia, Japan yews, nandinas, Japanese red maples, variegated ivy, magic carpet spirea, red, white and pink periwinkles and assorted hostas.

Their porch is filled with colorful containers of coleous, assorted caladiums, dracaena spikes, red petunias, red geraniums and angel wing begonias.

This magnificent yard was designed and is maintained by Jodi and brings happiness to their friends and neighbors. Edmond Beautiful congratulates Wally and Jodi for their labor of love in their yard. They will receive a $50 store credit from The Home Depot on Broadway and a 90-day subscription to The Edmond Sun. The Edmond Beautiful Yard of the Week is co-sponsored by The Edmond Sun, The Home Depot and the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce. To nominate a yard, call 341-2808.

  • The would’a, could’a, should’as of Edmond living

“Would’a, could’a, should’a” might be the most useless contractions in the English language — especially when preceded by “if only” — but I’m not letting that stop me.
If only I’d known what was coming, I would’a stayed out of Edmond’s seductive garden shops last weekend, but it’s been a long, cold winter and I couldn’t resist all those colorful flowery offerings begging, “Take me! “Take me!”
